Westmorland FA - developing football for everyone
Development - take your skills to the next level

School Club Links

A fundamental theme underpinning all football development is supporting young people to move from school based football to a suitable club.

The School Club Link Programme is football’s commitment to the delivery of the Physical Education and School Sport Club Links (PESSCL) strategy, which sets out to ensure that all children, whatever their circumstances or abilities, should be able to participate in and enjoy physical education and sport.

The FA School Club Links project can achieve the following outcomes:
• Increased opportunities for participation in football for both players and volunteers
• The individual and community wide health benefits of physically active lifestyles through participating in football
• Improved retention in football participation beyond the school leaving age
• Improved levels of performance for those of all abilities
• Improved club safety including child protection and risk management through the FA Charter Standard Clubs programme
• Extended opportunities for socialisation, self development and team work
• Positive recreational football opportunities for young people outside school
• Increased opportunities for schools to connect with the wider communities in which they are located
• The supply of a vibrant and growing membership and volunteer base for clubs and NGB’s

This will be done in different ways:-
• Leaflets for parents/guardians giving local team information and contact details
• Get into Football leaflets –where children provide their details and we will put them in touch with a club
• Club Coaches attend sessions
