This competition commenced in its current format in 1968 when Braithwaite FC were the first to lift the trophy. Previous to this an annual game between 2 Football League clubs was held at Parkside Road, Kendal.
The Trophy is played for annually between 4 affiliated clubs – the winners or runners up of a team if duplicated, of the

o Senior Challenge Cup
o Benevolent Trophy
o Westmorland Football League
Kendal County FC are the current holders after beating Keswick in the semi final and then scoring 5 – 2 against Corinthians in the final.
The 2008 final tie took place on Wednesday 1 October 2008 at the Planet Conservatories Stadium, Parkside Road, Kendal.
