Small sided

Small-sided football has surpassed 11-a-side to become the most commonly played form of the game in England.  The FA has big plans for its future development.

In 2002, 4.4 million adults played small-sided football, with over a million involved in league or cup 5-a-side.  The numbers are ever rising with the growth of purpose built facilities.

The FA supports the growth of the game by establishing specific governance processes, standards of provision, relationships with commercial providers.  There has also been a national fives tournament and plans to introduce Futsal in England.
