Westmorland County FA v Lancashire FA At the Lakeland Radio Stadium, Parkside Road, Kendal on Saturday 15 November 2008
Westmorland entertained Lancashire FA for the first time since the 1994-95 season and played an unchanged team from their 1st Round tie.
The home side were unlucky not to take the lead as early as the seventh minute following a move down the right and Lawrence Stannard’s cross found Nathan Dixon, whose shot rebounded from the post. However, it was the visitors who took the lead on 16 minutes following some sloppy defence work and Sam Nightingale scored.
Four minutes later Max Shaw equalised for the home side.
Westmorland had the opportunity to take the lead when Dixon was brought down in the penalty area when he looked certain to score, but James Benjamin’s penalty hit the bar.
It was Lancashire’s turn to rattle the woodwork with a shot from the right on 34 minutes.
The home side hit the bar again on 40 minutes with a 25 metre shot from Nathan Dixon.

The visitors regained the lead on 52 minutes when goalkeeper, Stuart Dixon, fumbled the ball and Hough scored from close range.
The home side dominated the game for long periods and had chances to take up the game and were unlucky not to progress to the third round of the competition.
Coach Mike Graham was delighted with the team’s performance, although a little disappointed that the team were not finishing their chances.
