Girls Football Week

9:34 AM, Thursday, 18 June 09. Women and Girls

The FA Girls Tesco Girls’ Football week takes place next week (22-28 June 2009) and is a National initiative to get more girls and women into playing football.

More girls and women than ever before are playing football in Cumbria, but clubs are still looking for more players to join their teams and squads for the coming season. With leagues in all parts of Cumbria offering girls of all ages the opportunity to play football, right through to the Cumbria Women’s League, there is a chance for anyone wishing to play football to get involved.

The current Leagues in Cumbria are:
Longhorn Youth League – U10, U12, U14, U16 – Carlisle and North Cumbria area
West Cumbria Youth League – U12, U14 – West Cumbria
South Lakes Girls League – U12, U14, U16 – South Cumbria and Barrow
Cumbria Women’s League – Age 16+ - Cumbria

There are a number of events taking place throughout the County during the week – and many more clubs are continuing their training sessions throughout the summer so there has never been a better time to join a local club.
