Attending a new venue the Riversiders were rushed into a game after arriving late and before 5 minutes in were 4-0 up and cruising to start their league season off with a great result against East Lancashire, straight after this they were back on against a very good Lytham team who beat them 4-1.
Riversiders then got a deserved 30 minute break after a frantic start. Refreshed and ready to go Riversiders entertained AFC Masters Green in a spectacular game ending in a 4-4 draw, after leading 2-0 after only 30 seconds. Riversiders were pegged back to be losing 3-2, this wasn’t the end as Riversiders took it to their opponents and gained 2 goals to make it 4-3, with seconds on the board left and the referee going to blow his whistle the opponents snatched a deflected goal to earn a draw.
Riversiders then played two good sides in AFC Masters White and Mill Hill and played very well although coming away with 6-1 and 5-2 defeats.
The year has started well for the team and the boys will be looking at pushing on their great results from the 1st fixtures into March Fixtures.
