U18 Representative Matches

Westmorland County FA U18 Representative squad have been in action with a visit from Lancashire and a visit to Lincolnshire

Westmorland FA U-18’s 3 Lancashire FA U-18’s 11

A game that had everything! Fourteen goals, four penalties two of which were saved, two hat-tricks and end to end football from the beginning. Unfortunately for Westmorland U-18’s they were on the wrong end of the score line going down 11-3 to a very strong Lancashire U-18’s side. Lancashire set the pace, scoring in the opening minute and had raced into a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes. However, Westmorland dragged themselves back into it and fought back to 3-2 following a brace of well-taken penalties by Bailey Carlos and looked as though they might make a game of it just before half-time. Failure to clear crosses though was their undoing and Lancashire scored twice before the break, the pick of which was a stunning overhead kick by Jack Foster. Foster went on to complete his hat-trick as Lancashire ran away with the game in the second half and was joined by James Corbett who uniquely scored a hat-trick of far post headers. In the middle of it all Westmorland goalie, Kieran Sill saved two penalties and William Booth grabbed a consolation for Westmorland late on. However, there was still time for Lancashire to add three more before the final whistle to complete the rout. Westmorland will look back on this game with disappointment but can take heart from one or two individual performances, particularly Bailey Carlos in midfield. There is the chance to put things right in their next game away at Lincolnshire on November 21st

Lincolnshire FA U-18's 2 Westmorland FA U-18's 0

After battling artic conditions to reach Brigg Town, Lincolnshire FA venue for the under 18 match, Westmorland U-18's gave a much improved performance before going down to 2-0

The Westmorland team started the brighter of the two teams and were unlucky to go 1-0 down just before half time when the referee failed to notice a foul to Bailey Carlos and Lincolnshire FA broke away to score on the break from close range. 1-0H/T.

The away side came out of the changing rooms after half time with a positive attitude and took the game to the home side going in search of the equaliser however a defensive mistake allowed Lincolnshire FA to extend their lead when the Lincolnshire striker scored from close range. Will Booth nearly snatched one back for the visiting team with a spectacular overhead kick in the last few minutes but Lincolnshire held on for a hard fought win.

This was a much improved performance from the under 18 squad with stand out performances from Bailey Carlos and Lewis Casey and from WCFA man of the match Ross Parkin
