Under 25 League Week 4 of the Competition

Westmorland County FA Under 25 League Week 4

Ibis faced Lunesdale in the first game of Week 4 down at the Millennium Playing Fields. Lunesdale surprised their opponents with a quick start and gave the unbeaten side no time on the ball in an edgy opening 15 minutes. Chances were few and far between the two sides before Ibis took the advantage when Tyler Park finished well into the bottom corner. Lunesdale came back into the game and should have equalised however the striker couldn’t get his shot away when faced with an open goal. In the second half Ibis took control and despite missing some good chances extended their lead when Park scored his second goal of the game to seal the points.

In the second game of the night Kendal United faced Milnthorpe Corinthians with both teams needing a victory. After a close opening 15 minutes, Kendal United took the lead when a quick counter attack saw Aidan Dent square the ball to James Bennett who finished into the bottom corner. In the second half Corinthians had goalkeeper Joe Fiddler to thank for a string of smart saves to restrict Kendal United from pulling further ahead. Corinthians got an equaliser in bizarre fashion, when a short back pass cleared away from Kendal United keeper Jack Brolly could only hit unfortunate defender Declan Thompson to score a disastrous own goal. Kendal United pushed on again for a winner but found Fiddler in great form to finish the game at 1-1.

Week 5 sees Ibis face Endmoor. If Ibis win then they win the league, however a draw or lose would give the title to Kendal United. In the last game of the league Lunesdale face Milnthorpe Corinthians.
