Minor Cup Final

Milnthorpe and District v Ambleside United on Sunday 3 May 2009 at the Lakeland Radio Stadium, Parkside Road, Kendal

Milnthorpe dominated the Minor Cup final against the younger Ambleside team.

They opened the scoring on 14 minutes when Peter Baxendale ran on to a through ball and shot past the advancing Cameron Allonby.

Their second goal came on 21 minutes when Chris Ladds scored. Three further goals came before half time with goals from Bertram Hodgson (30th minute – shot), Ladds second (33rd minute) and Baxendale got his second in the final minute of the half.

Milnthorpe got a further goal in the seventh minute of the second half through Andy Spedding.

Ambleside’s Ryan Sewell was cautioned for dissent in the 11th minute of the half, before they got a consolatory goal when Tom Simmonds headed home from a corner.
Andy Spedding completed the route for Milnthorpe when he scored his second with a couple of minutes to go.
