Association of Northern Counties - Youth Competition
WESTMORLAND COUNTY FA V CHESHIRE COUNTY FA

The Westmorland County FA took on last season's FA County Youth Cup finalists Cheshire County FA on Saturday.

In a very evenly balanced first half, chances for either team were few.  The home side were unlucky not to take the lead on 12 minutes when a free kick from the right was met by Bailey Kenny whose powerful header was tipped onto the bar by Dylan Cross in the Cheshire goal.

At the other end home keeper Kieran Sill saved well from Jack Berman as the half came to an end.

Half Time: Westmorland County FA 0 Cheshire County FA 0

It was the Westmorland side who really took a grip on the game as the second half started and took a well-deserved lead on 57 minutes when Bailey Kenny beat two defenders on the edge of the Cheshire penalty area and shot home.

Late in the game Westmorland’s Lewis Casey was sent off for his second caution.  Cheshire really tried hard to get back into the game but their efforts were more than matched by the well organised Westmorland team.

Team Manager George Gudgeon was delighted with his team’s performance and we now look forward to the two remaining games in the league.
