Girls PDP Under 13 Fixture
Westmorland County FA Girls Player Development Programme U13's had their first fixture of the season last night against a strong Preston North End U13 side.
It was great to welcome a number of new and returning faces into the squad and all the players gave a good account of themselves against an experienced and talented PNE team.
In the first half the game started very evenly with both teams playing on the front foot. PNE however scored two quick goals to take control of the match. This brought Westmorland into life and Eva scored a wonderful goal bursting down the left side and firing home with great power. PNE did however score again before half time to increase their lead.
Westmorland made a host of changes throughout the game to enable all outfield players to get a good run out. The second half was an improvement for Westmorland who continued to look really good in possession and going forward. Preston were always very sharp on the break however and pulled away to score again. Two late goals for Westmorland from Carla including a thunderous free kick from outside the box gave Westmorland the goals they deserved, however PNE scored again just after to confirm their victory.
A big well done to all the squad who have only trained together twice and competed very well against an experienced side. Lots of positives and things to work on for the forthcoming season!
