Westmorland County FA Launches Coaches' Academy

Ex-Manchester United footballer Luke Chadwick will be joining the first meeting

On Monday 27th November, the first meeting of the Westmorland County FA Coaches’ Academy will take place.

Building on the successful model of the Donald Shepherd Referee’s academy, the Coaches’ Academy will meet monthly to provide a space for face-to-face meetings of coaches and managers of Westmorland youth and adult teams. Each month, the academy will be joined by a guest speaker who will share their experiences and advice with the group. The group will also have access to the FA Coach Development teams CPD and other resources to support them in the coaching of their teams.

During the first meeting, the group will be joined by ex-Manchester United footballer Luke Chadwick for a webinar looking at his coaching journey and the lessons learnt along the way. Following a career in the game playing for clubs such as Manchester United, West Ham, Reading, Stoke and Norwich City, Luke took on a role within Cambridge United’s Academy. Luke's coaching colleague Jonny Martin will also join to talk about the ethos and values of the Football Fun Factory and talking about how they structure their sessions and the rationale behind it.

Following the webinar, there will be an opportunity to engage in a consultation about the future of the Coaches’ Academy and how it can best support coaches and managers in Westmorland.
