Holker Old Boys v Kendal United on Sunday 10 May 2015 at Burneside FC

In an entertaining Under 18 League Cup final, Holker Olds Boys played Kendal United at Burneside FC, both teams played some fantastic open football.

In the fifth minute of the game, United were unlucky not to take the lead when Aiden Dent’s shot was deflected just wide.

Holker’s Jake Allonby was cautioned on 30 minutes after an altercation with an opponent.

In the 32nd minute, an Kendal United free kick was fumbled by Holker keeper, Ibukun Bamigboye, but his defence scrambled the ball away.  A minute later he saved Danny Craig’s header.

Holker could have scored but Huw Barton headed just over the bar.  Minutes later he could have scored again but shot wide when one on one with the United keeper, Joe Wiseman

On 42 minutes, Holker’s Josh Miller shot wide from the edge of the penalty area.  A United corner found Craig, whose goal bound shot was deflected and Bamigboye saved superbly on 44 minutes.

Holker took the lead on 52 minutes when Miller headed home at the far post from a free kick.

The lead was short lived, United equalised when a defence splitting through ball from Bailey Carlos found Jay Hayton who shot home on 57 minutes.

He could have scored again two minutes later but this time headed just over the bar.

United’s Mario Semboglou shot wide from long distance on 70 minutes and Holker’s Allonby did the same on 73 minutes.

United’s Craig was cautioned in the final minute following an incident with an opponent.

As the game went into extra time, both teams tired and chances were very few.  Holker’s Barton shot wide (100 minute), Thomas Savage headed over the bar (117), whilst at the other end a goal mouth scramble was cleared away from danger (114).

Holker could have snatched a winner in the final minute but Joseph Wiseman saved well at point blank range from Tom Savage.
